How ABRILADA works
ABRILADA is a biologic treatment that is approved to treat certain inflammatory conditions. ABRILADA is a biosimilar — a highly similar version of Humira® (adalimumab), a biologic medicine that has been available for some time. A biosimilar is approved by the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) only after it has been found to have no clinically meaningful differences from the original biologic medicine.
ABRILADA is expected to work the same way Humira® does
- ABRILADA blocks the action of a protein in the body called tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha)
- TNF-alpha is made by your body's immune system. People with certain diseases have too much TNF-alpha that can cause the immune system to attack normal healthy parts of the body
- ABRILADA works by blocking TNF-alpha, which in excess amounts can cause inflammation
